Finding The “Organic” Search Results Among The 3 Sections On Google

All three sections of a Google search results page are valuable for your business. We’re starting with the so-called “organic” section because that’s what we all think of when we go a-Googling. Here’s an outline of a typical search and what to look for.

Good afternoon Michael Byrd here again with Home Services Digital and I want to talk today about the three sections currently of a Google search results page. And I say currently because Google changes things all of the time used to be quite different, I we’ve jumped into organic search and that is sort of the default understanding that most people have of doing a search on Google that’s what you’re after the so-called pure search. And it’s the way that Google started, I’m going to show you this on the screen just a little word about the little logo behind me here Home Services Digital this is our conference room. So I’m going to spin around and show you the big TV and actually have a search queued up on the on the television we’re going to go through that maybe get my big head out of the way. So somebody does let’s say a common sense search or one of the searches that I shared with you last time that happens to have high search volume plumbers near me, or painters near me and I’ve been seen going out plumbers that I’ve said in another video my dad was a plumber so biased in that direction. Let’s go with painters today, I’ve got a search queued up right here just to go through the three sections on a Google search results page and if you can see that you might be able to see that if you can’t read it it’s actually okay it’s not really the important point of this so let me get out of the way I mean move the laptop a little closer. All right the three sections of Google you do a search and you see up here the word the word painters and I can’t see my cursor but I don’t actually think I have to. You do a search for painters let’s say you’re looking for a painter and what we hope is that they find you if you’re a painter so somebody does a search and they get these sections right up here right here at the very top are the Google AdWords section. We’re going to talk about this later there’s a lot to say about that the important thing for me to say right now is don’t dismiss it, this stuff works these big players wouldn’t be doing this if it doesn’t work so that stuff works. The second section is the Google map section this is also an extremely valuable section if you can win here and it’s also cheap go for that. People can call you look at these two people here don’t even have a website and they could still call they got reviews and there’s a lot to be said about that too we’re going to come back to that in other videos. What I’ve been talking about in previous videos is this section down here that we call the organic result, and in the last video where I talked about king of the hill I wanted you to take a look at who’s doing well here especially here competition. They’re getting the phone calls if you’re they’re here and you’re not they’re getting the phone calls of the people who would pick from this section. So this is the organic search results section and they’ve asked you to take a look at that what I’d like you to do now is to do your takeaway for today is to do a few searches for things that you’re interested in, either in your field or just otherwise. A watch for this whether you get all three sections and how many ads are in that top section what you’re going to find is that certain searches don’t have ads apparently there’s not enough market for people to worry about that to pay be there. Some things don’t have a map section if it’s a more nationally oriented search sometimes you’ll get pictures generally speaking if you’re marketing your service to the people in your geographic area, a home services type service you’re going to get these three sections and this is where we play the game. So do a couple searches get familiar with the three sections because they’re all different, and I’ll see you in the next video thanks.
